How To Treat Toenail Fungus With VICKS VAPORUB

Having foot fungus is a common condition caused by microscopic organisms that grow in warm, moist areas. If a person walks in a warm place, such as dressing rooms, showers or pools, organisms can invade your nails and cause an infection. It can look very insightly.

How To Treat Toenail Fungus With VICKS VAPORUB

It Causes thck nails and at some point they lose color and start to break. The condition is unsightly, and can be painful in severe cases. Although most cases be treated by a doctor, there are home cures, such as Vicks VapoRub, which have shown big progress.
Today we revisit a study that looked at why Vicks VapoRub or similar products can be so effective at treating it, even where traditional treatments fail. The study isolated an ingredient called thymol, which is naturally found in the herb thyme.

Treatment
Although toenails fungi are usually treated with oral medication prescribed by a doctor, some people treat them with Vicks VapoRub. There is evidence proving that Vicks VapoRub can cure fungal toenails in some people. This is largely due to its ingredients, including menthol, camphor and eucalyptus oil. These ingredients may have antifungal properties that inhibit the growth of the fungus in the toenails and allow it to grow a new and healthy one. The ointment should be applied to the affected nails every day.
Research
Researchers at the University of Michigan found that daily use of Vicks VapoRub cured fungal toenails of 32 people from a total of 85 participants. It took five to 16 months to completely eliminate the infection, which is comparable with other treatments for fungal toenails.
Benefits
Vicks VapoRub has no side effects, which can make it a good choice for people who have problems with oral medications. Oral antifungal medications can cause skin irritation in some patients and can also cause liver damage. Patients with congestive heart failure or liver disease may be unable to take an oral treatment, so Vick VapoRub can be a good alternative for them.
Warning
Vicks VapoRub is not approved by the Food and Drug Administration to be used as a cure for fungus toenails. The company does not recommend using it to treat nail fungus.
How to apply vicks vapor rub on fungal infections

To treat toenail fungus with Vicks VapoRub, clean and trim your toenails. Wash them well and make sure they are completely dry. Coat the toenail with the Vicks, and be sure to get the gel deep into the sides of the nail and as far underneath as possible. If you have any cracks in your nail, rub deeply into them. Once the nail is covered, then wrap a light gauze bandage or adhesive bandage around the nail to protect the Vicks from rubbing off on to socks or something else. Leave it on and let the gel absorb into the nail. Repeat daily. The time it takes to notice results can be anywhere from 10 days to six weeks, depending upon how deep your fungus is.

  1. The secret to getting rid of the toenail fungus FOR GOOD; You must get rid
of your old shoes and socks. it is very important that you get rid of those
old shoes and socks in order to see any results. you can use whatever
treatment you want to use but, just remember if you don’t throw away the
old socks and shoes where the fungus is living, you’re wasting your TIME
and MONEY. You’re not going to see any results . I have seen lots of videos
here on YouTube and they failed to mention that the shoes and socks are
also contaminated with the fungus. The drug companies know this but
purposely fail to mention it$$$$. in conclusion you must do the treatments
religiously everyday. The treatment will work however, this is not
something that works overnight, fingernails grow very slowly it’s going to
take some time six months to a year depending on how bad your toenail
fungus is. I know we live busy lives but be patient and don’t give up! You
will see results if you do it the right way.

    1. If anyone is interested in reducing nail fungus quickly the best results
that I have had was by using the Saras Fungal Site (i found it on google) –
without a doubt the best method that I have ever seen.

  2. I got rid of my toe nail fungus with bleach. I tore small strips of paper
towels, soaked them with bleach and laid them on my toe nails. Also poured
a little bleach on my toe nails to soak the paper towel strips really well.
    Fungus is gone.

  3. II have toenail fungus and started using the Vicks vapor rub a few days
ago, and the nails are looking better already. And I have an appalling case
of it, my big toes the nails were extremely thick. However, I took a foot
scraper (it’s electric) with a very course round ball on the end of it and
started grinding my nails down. I did this for about four days, and then
once I saw the nails were as thin as my finger nails I started putting the
    Vicks vapor rub on them.
What I do is put it on each toenail concentrating on my big toes, really
thick, and I put a healing moisturizer on my feet at the same time. Once I
have done these two steps, I put on footies and go to bed allowing the
Vicks and moisturizer to soak into my feet and nails through the night.
I am serious, my feet looked horrible along with all my toenails, but this
    is helping.
My nails almost look healthy enough to wear sandals again. However, I’m not
about to try because I am going to continue with this treatment for at
    least three months.
My nails grow quite fast so after three months if they don’t appear to be
healing I am going to a dermatologist.

    1. Duke you don’t need to grind down the nail the vicks kills the fungus nail,
all of it will come off all at once, some pieces might be a bit more
stubborn but eventually it will work, all you have to do is just keep
picking at it in the corners and wiggle the nail every day before putting
the vapour rub on at night and i wouldn’t reccomend putting socks on
because some of it rubs off the socks, the second thing is you need to stop
showering every day, you need to keep layering on the vapour rub for at
least 3 days without washing your feet to let it do it’s magic.

Foot baths or showering isn’t helping it at all, so i think you need to
give up showering every day for a while. I’m just using Bells but i don’t
shower every day anyway but what i’ve been doing is putting it on in the
evening around 8/9pm then just walking around barefoot to let it soak in
and do it’s work and not let any of it rub off and i don’t just put a tiny
tiny ammount on, i put a decent blob on the more infected nails and a
little less on the nails that weirdly don’t seem to be infected, i make
sure to rub it all around the cuticles and the top of my toes above the
nail and across the cuticle the nail is attached to and the skin under it,
it might burn the skin there a little but it helps it soak in.

By the time i’ve got in bed most of it’s soaked in but it takes a while but
it’s why your best doing it like after tea or around 8/9pm, don’t let any
of it rub off and just use a little bit to fill in the corners of the nails
with the vapour rub. After a few weeks the nails should start loosening
away from the nail bed and the cuticle and one of the reasons i pick at it
is because you can’t always tell when it’s ready to come off, i’ve gotten
several pieces of infected ail off so far, now most of my right middle toe
nail is off too which was a thick nail, you will find there is this weird
raised soft fungus nail under it though which will take time to cure too
and i imagine needs to come off too. Just keep at it and stop showering so
much or you will never cure it.

    2. If you really believe VICKS kills TOENAIL FUNGUS then I have a hellova
good deal on some swamp land in LOUISIANNA that you need to buy.

    3. Shut up Bill bot LOL seriously… i knew it was a bot all this time, bloody
bots, Duke or anyone don’t listen to it, just block it. swamp land
louisianna is refering to Grav3yardgirl lol, now it just isn’t making any
      sense lol.

Follow what i said and you should do fine, don’t wash it off every single
day, after 2/3 days will be fine but you have to leave the nails exposed to
the vapour rub all the time, soon as you’ve showered put more on, use hand
soap to wash your toes off to get all the vapour rub off you put on 2/3
days ago because it will start to turn old and go kinda solid. Sorry for
anyone that may have OCD or OCD like habits but it will be a struggle for
you to not shower every day but has to be done.

  4. I noticed that you pronounced Thyme the way it is spelled, with the “th”
sound. In the US we pronounce Thyme as “Time.” Is this pronunciation unique
to the US/North America? Enjoy the videos!😉

  5. I’ve been using Vicks on my toenails for years and it has improved them,
but not completely cured them. I recently became a fan of coconut oil and
started alternating it with Vicks (Vicks at night, coconut oil in the
morning) and I’ve seen more progress. Now I’ve thrown Campo-Phenique into
the mix. Probably in about 2-3 nail trimmings and the fungus will be gone
from the big toes. The only toes I still have an issue with the the little
toes. Also, Vicks is great for keeping the nail cuticles very nice. Thank
    you for the video.

    1. Make sure to rub it into the cubicles and the skin under the nail bed, as i
can see from my right big toe which is showing results already after 1 week
after being able to easily pull off a piece of infected nail i can see
where the infection is under the thin layer of clear nail, that’s pretty
much my whole nail gone now though but that’s where the infection is under
the nail bed and part way up the nail, the petrolium jelly in it will make
sure it soaks in, make sure to give it a good rub aroud the nail bed
espcially, i’ve been putting a tiny bit more of the bells vapour rub i’m
using on my big toes ad the two thick nails on my right foot and seems to
help speed things along more, i reccomend instead of trying to trim more
infected nails, if they are cracked and you can wiggle and pull at pieces
of nail across the nail bed then keep wiggling and pulling at it and get a
cotton bud to push vapour rub under it, after a few days of doing that you
should be able to just pull off the pieces of infected nail so then you can
get to the nail bed to treat it.

  6. soaking on Apple cider vinegar, applying Vicks and tee tree oil helped
me,after I had spent hundreds of rand with over the counter meds.

  7. After just 1 week i have already managed to loosen and pull off the piece
of infected toenail across my right big toe’s nail bed by just wiggling and
scraping at it, i make sure to give my hands a good wash after but it
helped it along, the vapour rub killed the nail enough to be able to just
very easily peel the nail off the nail bed without any bleeding or
soreness, it’s a little sore at first under the nail and across the nail
bed as you wiggle it but the patrolium jelly in it helps heal it very
quickly, it healed it underneath in just 2 days 🙂 amazing the healng
properties petrolium jelly has, i use it for bites, stings and dry skin too
and i’ve healed stings in just 2 days with it as well.

So now i can properly treat the nail bed, i can see where the fungal
infection is because it’s red under the very thin layer of nail, it’s
growing clear though which is good :). I make sure to rub it around the
folicules and across the skin under the nail bed too, the petrolium jelly
helps it because it soaks through the nail as well, putting it on the
folicules and across the skin under the nail bed will make sure it gets to
the nail bed and to the where the infected nail is attached to, i also used
a cotton bud to push some vapour rub underneath the piece nail while it was
loosening. I’ve only been washing my feet once a week just soaking it in
some hot water with shower gel then washing the gel out the basin after
half hour then putting in just hot water and soaking my feed in it for 15
mins to get off any soap residue and bits of dirt it missed then drying my
feet and putting on talc powder,.

The other days i just put on the Bells Vapour Rub every day at night and
just stay barefoot keeping air to my feet and letting it soak in, i think
the key is the petrolium jelly because without it i don’t reckon it will
penetrate through the nails or get into the nail bed properly, i’ve tried
the pills, the creams, foot baths and non of it worked even against the
athletes foot, i’m going to try the talc powder for athletes foot though,
for me that’s why my nails are infected and talc seems to work for me for a
few things, my mum says it worked for her so hopefully it works for me too *fingers
    crossed*.

    1. No probs, it’s really working for me with just the Bells, i have the white
kind of fungus and from reading vapour rub is one of the fungus’s that
vapour rub cures the most, it’s called Distal Subungual Onychomycosis, i
know big words but it’s the most common type, from small studies of like a
few hundred people with it and a few other types vapour rub cured it for
most of the people who used it, just glad it works for me. I think this
will take over 2 years to cure though, first you have to get the infected
nail off and for it to kill the infection on the nail bed as the new nail
starts to grow, it does very very slowly though like only slight growth per
month, i’m already seeing some growth on my right big toe, it’s doing
      something on the cuticle anyway,

    2. Hopefully 😀 make sure to not wash your feet every day though, you have to
let it do it’s work, you can every 3/4 days though and i reccomend it with
hand soap because after 3 days the old vapour rub starts to get all
horrible, shower gel doesn’t get it off properly though but hand soap
completely cleans it off, it helps the vapour rub penetrate into the nail
better too by cleaning off all the old vapur rub when you put it on again
at night and it won’t work properly if you do it during the day because it
soaks in so slowly, it will just rub off on your socks.

Careful not to get it on the skin on your toes though except for the bit of
skin just under the nail, it kinda burns it there too but it helps getting
the infected nail off the cuticle, it burns the skin though if you get it
on other areas, i think it’s the menthol that burns the skin, i’ve just
done it by accident against down the side of my big toe and my left middle
toe, was itchy until i used the medicated powder which btw also have
euchalyptus and camphor in it so id use medicated, it’s cheap as well.

    1. here’s a few suggestions for treating nail fungus naturally
Soak your nails in warm water and apple cider
Apply natural oils such as lavendar, lemongrass and epsom salts which have
      antibiotic and antifungal properties
Further ideas you can try are pepper, coconut oil.
(I learned these and why they work from Sebs stopper secret website )

  8. After months of trying to treat my toenail fungus, I just went with it and
started a mushroom farm in my toes. It`s WIN WIN for everyone!

  9. I’ve used Vicks and it does work somewhat. I think that Petroleum jelly
would work as well. The key is that you are actually smothering the fungus
by covering it with the jelly and oxygen can not penetrate the Jelly or
Vicks therfore killing the fungus. This treatment can take a while to work,
but will give some results. I truly doubt that it will completely eliminate
the fungus. I have been battling toe/finger nail fungus for sometime now
and don’t think that anything can completely make it go away. definitely
    frustrating.

  10. I have tried them all…years later I have finally found something that
works. My biggest problem was sticking to treatment every day for 3 months.
I used 1/2 cup of ACV mixed with very very warm water (almost hot), patting
dry with paper towels not regular towel, then following that with a mixture
of coconut oil, oil of oregano and acidophilus that I apply with gloves
every night and every morning before I put on my shoes. I did put baking
soda in all my shoes prior to starting this and continuing thru the
treatment time. I also cut my nails as often as I could but not so short
that they couldn’t get the treatment mixture under the nail. I am finally
    toenail fungus free.

    1. Dee Sims so after u soak in ACV…then later.on that night u put a mixture
of coconut oil and oregano oil at night and in the morning?

  11. There are several things for relieving nail fungus quickly
Soak your nails in warm water and vinegar
Apply natural oils such as lavendar, clove oil and epsom salts which have
    antibiotic and antifungal properties
Others things you can try are pepper, coconut oil.

  13. Somebody once suggested making a solution of one part Listerine (mouthwash)
and one part apple cider vinegar. Pour the mixture into a bowl/bucket …
anything big enough to soak your nails/feet. Soak your feet for a few hours
whilst you watch a film/work/watch TV over two or three days. Your nails
will go black because the fungus dies but … voila, job done.

Haven’t done it myself but definitely tempted. Listerine and Apple Cider
Vinegar are cheaper than many products!

  14. This works – I used Vicks on my toe years ago. It was so sore I couldn’t
wear a shoe and had been to the doctor. He wanted me to take a drug and
then have blood work every few weeks to check for LIVER Damage ….. and it
cost a fortune. I put the Vicks on at night and then put on socks and slept
in them. The pain was gone within a day and the fungus was gone in a few
    weeks.

  15. I tried vicks and it caused my nail to turn black after just a few
applications. I stopped using it and it took a year for the black color to
    be gone.
